Programme 2009 - Year
2009 Sees East Coast Elite embark upon a celebration of prospects and spirit with their production of the show "Year".
Beginning on new years eve, the Corps travel through 525,600 minutes in the space of 13 minutes visiting the seasons and holidays throughout the calendar, the show leaves you with a feeling of nostalgia, hope and goodwill, returning back to the same night a year later.
This year's show features an eclectic compilation and arrangement of pieces, with the end of year classic "Auld Lang Syne" opening the show, the piece then explodes into the exciting rendition of "Troika" from the "Symphonic Sweet for Orchestra" by Serge Profofiev. Taking a heartfelt turn for the summer, the Corp begin the season with Summer Valentine, making a smooth transition into the famous rock opera Rent's "Seasons of Love".
The summer piece then ends on a high with a heart-warming song, "Summer Time", originally by George Gershwin. The show begins to revolve full circle as we enter the autumn and winter period with an impressive festive arrangement of notorious and traditional carol song, "Carol of the Bells", intertwined with "God Rest You Merry Gentlemen". How do you measure a year in life?
